Unfortunately after you rid your house of wildlife, whether it is Raccoons, Squirrels or Bats there is still work to be done. If the animals have defecated in your attic on the insulation it should be removed. Various serious illnesses can stem from animal defecation in your home.
What illnesses do wildlife carry?
Bat guano can carry a disease called histoplasmosis. This disease affects the lungs. When the humidity in the attic rises and there is bat guano present it can release a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum. This in turn when breathed in can affect the lungs.
Raccoon defecation carries roundworm which can carry a disease called Baylisascaris. This disease can affect the brain. If the eggs are accidently ingested or absorbed into the body the larvae can destroy parts of the brain. Very serious and untreatable. Raccoons also defecate in one area called a latrine.
Squirrel defecation can carry Lyme disease. This is because they can get infested with fleas and ticks. Although the threat of disease isn’t as great with squirrels it doesn’t mean there aren’t other hazards. Such as biting into electrical cords which could cause a fire.
What does Insulation Removal Include?
We remove the insulation by vacuuming it into bags through the attic hatch or access. We also dispose of the insulation, repair any damage that the wildlife had incurred while living there, and replace insulation.
Our technicians have protective suits they wear when cleaning out insulation. This is a very dirty, dusty, and tedious job that needs to be done after wildlife have invaded your home.
Please give us a call to get wildlife out of your attic, loft, garage or any living space and clean up the mess they have left behind!
